DWCS 2026 Week 1 opens Season 10 with four UFC contracts
Dana White's Contender Series returned with exactly the sort of night the format is built for: quick finishes, uncomfortable moments and four fighters leaving Las Vegas with UFC contracts.
Contender Series 2026: Week 1 featured five fights, with Anthony Wint, Bilal Hasan, Thomas Pagliarulo and Joseph Kropschot doing enough to earn contracts. Abe Alsaghir also won his fight, but his split-decision victory over Fabrizio Escarrega did not result in a UFC deal.
Anthony Wint needs just 34 seconds against Matthew Adams
Anthony Wint made sure there was very little for Dana White to debate. The unbeaten heavyweight blasted through Matthew Adams in only 34 seconds, ending Adams vs. Wint with punches and moving his professional record to 7-0.
The former New York Jets linebacker came into the event with plenty of athletic intrigue, but this was about fighting rather than football. Wint immediately imposed himself, found the finish and secured a UFC contract before the first minute had even passed.

Bilal Hasan destroys Mridul Saikia in 45 seconds
Wint was not the only fighter operating on a one-minute schedule. Bilal Hasan overwhelmed Mridul Saikia with punches and forced the stoppage after only 45 seconds of Hasan vs. Saikia.
It was a brutal introduction to the Contender Series stage for Saikia and exactly the kind of performance Hasan needed. There was no need for a sales pitch afterward. A first-round demolition at flyweight made the contract decision straightforward.

Thomas Pagliarulo earns a late stoppage and UFC deal
Thomas Pagliarulo had to work considerably longer for his opportunity. His featherweight matchup with Ananias Mulumba reached deep into the third round before Pagliarulo finally broke through with punches at 4:24.
The late TKO in Pagliarulo vs. Mulumba gave him one of the most satisfying wins of the night. Rather than chasing a reckless early finish, he stayed in the fight, built toward the stoppage and left with a UFC contract.
Joseph Kropschot wins as Jonathan Kunneman survives gruesome injury
Not every contract came through a finish. Joseph Kropschot defeated Jonathan Kunneman by unanimous decision in Kropschot vs. Kunneman, winning 30-27, 30-27 and 29-28 on the scorecards.
The fight also produced one of the hardest images to watch from Week 1. Kunneman somehow continued to the final horn despite suffering a severe arm injury that appeared to leave the joint completely dislocated.

Kropschot's controlled victory was enough to convince White that he belonged on the UFC roster, making him the only fighter of the four contract winners who needed the judges.
Abe Alsaghir wins but leaves without a contract
Abe Alsaghir was the lone winner not to receive a UFC deal. His lightweight fight with Fabrizio Escarrega was extremely close, with Alsaghir taking Escarrega vs. Alsaghir by split decision.
One judge scored the fight 30-27 for Escarrega, while the other two returned 29-28 cards for Alsaghir. The victory counted on his record, but it did not produce the additional prize that defines the Contender Series.
