Dana White's Contender Series closed its 2026 season with four UFC contracts, two stoppages and an unusual ending: the fighter who dominated the main event was the only winner who didn't get signed.
Erick Visconde swept the scorecards against previously unbeaten Ilias Bulaid but failed to convince Dana White that his performance deserved a UFC deal. Smilla Sundell had no such problem, although she needed support from UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard to secure her contract after defeating Aline Pereira.
Elsewhere, Douglas da Lapa and Luis Francischinelli delivered the night's two TKOs, while Greg Foster earned a contract following a frantic three-round battle with Jason Asher.
The October 13 event, DWCS 2026 Week 10, took place at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas and brought Season 10 to a close with 46 contracts awarded across 10 episodes, tying the series record.
Watch the biggest moments from the finale in our DWCS 2026 Week 10 highlights, featuring the Brazilian knockout victories, Sundell's decision win and the performances that produced the final four contracts of the season.
Erick Visconde dominates Ilias Bulaid but gets denied a UFC contract
Erick Visconde vs. Ilias Bulaid was a perfect demonstration of the difference between winning an MMA fight and winning a UFC contract on Contender Series.
Visconde entered as the underdog against the undefeated Moroccan-Dutch kickboxer, who had accumulated an impressive striking résumé before transitioning to MMA. The matchup was originally scheduled for Week 8 but had to be postponed after Bulaid became ill.
When they finally met, Visconde wasted little time showing why his grappling was such an important part of the matchup.
The Brazilian LFA featherweight champion repeatedly took Bulaid to the canvas, established control and prevented him from getting into any sustained striking rhythm. Bulaid defended well enough to avoid being submitted, but he struggled to create meaningful offense throughout the fight.
All three judges scored the contest 30-27 for Visconde, who handed Bulaid his first professional MMA defeat.
It was also a successful result for MMAtown's pre-event predictions. We selected Visconde as a +115 underdog, believing his MMA experience and grappling would make the fight considerably closer than the betting market suggested. He ultimately won every round on all three scorecards.
But the dominant performance didn't produce a UFC contract.

Doesn’t look like either of them is getting signed. 😕#DWCS pic.twitter.com/QYwDcMcmZr
Visconde revealed afterward that he had suffered a broken hand during the second round, which he said limited his ability to produce more offense.
Dana White acknowledged the Brazilian's grappling performance but criticized the lack of urgency and entertainment in the main event. The audience had also grown restless during the extended periods of ground control.
White told Visconde that he was tough and had shown strong grappling, but that he hadn't delivered the kind of performance expected in the main event of the season finale.
The decision leaves Visconde at 18-3 with a five-fight winning streak but still outside the UFC roster. He won convincingly against a previously undefeated opponent, yet the result wasn't enough to earn the contract that brought him to Las Vegas.
Smilla Sundell beats Aline Pereira and earns UFC contract after Dana White is outvoted
Smilla Sundell arrived at DWCS with one of the most impressive striking backgrounds on the card, but only two professional MMA appearances.
The 21-year-old former ONE Championship Muay Thai champion faced Aline Pereira, the younger sister of former two-division UFC champion Alex Pereira, in a women's bantamweight matchup that attracted considerable attention before the event.
The fight remained primarily a striking contest, with Sundell using forward pressure, kicks, knees and consistent activity to control much of the action.
Pereira had moments of success, particularly when she found openings with her punches. She also secured a takedown in the final round, but Sundell quickly returned to her feet and continued pressing forward.
All three judges awarded Sundell vs. Pereira to the Swedish prospect by scores of 29-28.
The victory improved Sundell's professional MMA record to 3-0 and handed Pereira her third defeat.
Immediately afterward, some viewers questioned whether the decision victory would be impressive enough for a contract, particularly on a show where dominant finishes are often rewarded.
🚨Sundell wins by unanimous decision over Aline Pereira! 👀

Not the best fight… I don't think either of them is getting signed. 😬#DWCS pic.twitter.com/ThlwDAMmDY
Those doubts weren't entirely misplaced. Dana White admitted that he initially preferred to see Sundell gain more MMA experience before entering the UFC.
However, matchmaker Mick Maynard strongly disagreed and argued that the young prospect possessed the talent to compete at the next level. White ultimately accepted that assessment and awarded Sundell a contract.
It's a significant development for a fighter who was already a Muay Thai world champion at 17. Sundell now enters the UFC women's bantamweight division with an elite striking foundation, although her limited MMA experience still leaves questions about how she will handle established grapplers.
MMAtown had correctly picked Sundell to defeat Pereira but advised against betting her moneyline after the odds moved to approximately -450. The result justified her favoritism without changing the original assessment that the price offered limited value.
Luis Francischinelli knocks out Will Rentz in the first round
Luis Francischinelli might be the most physically unusual prospect to earn a UFC contract this season.
Standing 6-foot-6 while competing at welterweight, the Brazilian towered over William Rentz, who attempted to neutralize that height advantage by immediately taking the fight to the ground.
Rentz secured an early takedown and later brought Francischinelli down again. But the Brazilian defended with submission threats and elbows from his back before scrambling to his feet.
Once they were standing, the difference in striking became decisive.
As Rentz advanced looking to close the distance again, Francischinelli caught him with a counter left hook that dropped him. He followed with punches on the canvas, forcing the referee to stop Francischinelli vs. Rentz at 2:18 of Round 1.
The victory improved Francischinelli to 7-1, with all seven wins coming by knockout or TKO.

Bro literally sold his wife’s motorcycle to afford a flight ticket… and went on to get a first-round win! 😭
WHAT A STORY! 🤯👏#DWCS pic.twitter.com/XGLr8GnmA8
Francischinelli's journey to the UFC involved considerable financial sacrifice. Years before this fight, he and his wife sold their car and motorcycle to help finance his move from Brazil to the United States, where he pursued opportunities to develop his MMA career.
The popular story resurfaced after his Contender Series victory, although the vehicle sale was connected to that earlier move rather than specifically to his flight for the October 13 event.
The night was especially emotional for another reason. Francischinelli revealed that his wife had been hospitalized, and he later received news that she had been discharged.
White praised the Brazilian's performance and joked about his extraordinary height before welcoming him to the UFC.
With a 6-foot-6 frame, finishing power and another demonstration of his ability to work back to his feet, Francischinelli becomes an intriguing addition to the welterweight division.
Douglas da Lapa survives Davi Cabral's power and scores a third-round TKO
The most entertaining back-and-forth fight of the night came between undefeated Brazilian middleweights Douglas da Lapa and Davi Cabral.
Da Lapa had significant advantages in height and reach, and he used both to land damaging combinations from range. Cabral refused to back down, repeatedly pressing forward and answering with heavy punches of his own.
Both fighters were hurt during the contest, with Cabral managing to stagger da Lapa despite absorbing considerable punishment.
The second round became increasingly one-sided as da Lapa connected with combinations that left Cabral covering up against the fence. Somehow, Cabral survived until the bell.
He wouldn't survive the opening exchange of the third.
Da Lapa dropped him with punches almost immediately after the restart and followed up until the referee intervened. The official stoppage in Da Lapa vs. Cabral came just 19 seconds into Round 3.
Da Lapa improved to 7-0, handed Cabral his first professional defeat and secured a UFC contract.
His combination of size, aggressive striking and ability to recover after being hurt impressed White, who praised the performance during the contract announcements.
Da Lapa also celebrated with Cristiano Ronaldo's trademark "Siuuu" gesture, later explaining that the football star's discipline and dedication have been an inspiration throughout his career.
Greg Foster earns UFC deal after three-round war with Jason Asher
The event opened with a lightweight fight that ultimately produced one of the night's most entertaining performances.
Greg Foster entered as the underdog against undefeated Jason Asher, but he immediately established an aggressive pace.
Foster dropped Asher with a right hand during the opening round, only for Asher to respond with a spinning backfist that knocked Foster down.
Neither fighter backed off. Foster continued pressuring, throwing combinations and forcing exchanges, while Asher remained dangerous enough to keep the contest competitive.
Asher had considerable success on the ground in the third round, taking Foster down and landing punches from top position. But Foster's earlier work was enough to secure the unanimous decision.
All three judges scored Foster vs. Asher 29-28 for Foster, who improved to 9-1 and handed Asher his first professional loss.
There was a personal story behind the victory as well. Foster revealed afterward that his mother, Barbara, was watching from a hospital while recovering from a serious car accident. It was also her birthday.
Dana White acknowledged that situation while awarding Foster a contract, praising the pace and toughness he displayed throughout the fight.
At 34, Foster isn't the typical young prospect associated with Contender Series, but his willingness to fight aggressively was exactly what White wanted to reward.
