DWCS 2026 Week 3 Results: Alex Apodaca Shocks Bella Mir, All 5 Winners Earn UFC Contracts

DWCS 2026 Week 3 Results: Alex Apodaca Shocks Bella Mir, All 5 Winners Earn UFC Contracts

Alex Apodaca hands Bella Mir her first MMA loss

Dana White's Contender Series produced one of the biggest betting upsets in the show's history as Alex Apodaca defeated Bella Mir by unanimous decision at Contender Series 2026: Week 3.

Mir entered the fight with enormous expectations. The 23-year-old daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir was undefeated at 4-0, carried an elite wrestling and grappling résumé and was listed as high as a -6000 favorite in some markets. Apodaca, meanwhile, was available around +1500.

None of that mattered once the fight started.

Mir found success with her jab and left hook early, but Apodaca repeatedly shut down the takedowns that were expected to be Mir's biggest advantage. As the fight developed, Apodaca became increasingly comfortable striking, mixing her jab with body kicks and bloodying Mir's nose.

In the third round of Apodaca vs. Mir, Apodaca again defended the wrestling well enough to keep control of the fight. Mir eventually worked to Apodaca's back and threatened late, even searching for a desperation twister in the closing seconds, but she could not find the finish.

All three judges scored the fight 29-28 for Apodaca.

Dana White awards Alex Apodaca a UFC contract

Dana White openly admitted afterward that his long relationship with the Mir family had made him unusually invested in the matchup. Apodaca's performance changed the expected script completely, and White rewarded her with a UFC contract.

For Mir, the result drops her professional MMA record to 4-1 and provides the first major setback of a career that still carries considerable long-term potential.

Four finishes complete a perfect night for DWCS winners

The upset was only part of a strong Week 3 card. Guilherme Uriel needed just 50 seconds to submit Mario Piazzon with a standing guillotine in Piazzon vs. Uriel.

Sean Clancy Jr. stopped Gary Balletto Jr. with elbows at 3:54 of the second round in Clancy Jr. vs. Balletto Jr., producing another performance that immediately caught attention.

Ronald Humphrey submitted Alexis Miranda by rear-naked choke in the first round of Humphrey vs. Miranda, while Nick Galanti needed only 35 seconds to knock out Carlos Petruzzella in Petruzzella vs. Galanti.

White ultimately handed contracts to all five winners: Apodaca, Uriel, Clancy Jr., Humphrey and Galanti.
