DWCS 2026 Week 6 Preview & Full Fight Card: Hunt vs Perea, Akbar Abdullaev Returns

Dana White's Contender Series reaches Week 6 of Season 10 on September 15 with another five-fight card at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas and, on paper, one of the more interesting collections of experience we've seen this year.

There are undefeated prospects. There are second-chance Contender Series fighters. There is a 13-0 former ONE Championship standout who has already beaten a world champion. And there is Luis Hernandez, whose résumé includes both one of the quickest knockouts you will ever see and the regional MMA incident that eventually earned Sean Strickland a suspension.

Through five weeks of Season 10, 24 fighters have already left the show with UFC contracts. Week 6 begins at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on Paramount+, with all 10 athletes successfully making weight on Monday.

Zevan Hunt vs Mayton Perea headlines DWCS Week 6

The welterweight main event is a useful test of what Contender Series matchmaking is supposed to do: put two fighters with legitimate UFC ambitions together and find out whose game holds up.

Zevan Hunt enters unbeaten at 7-0. Six of those seven victories have come inside the distance, split evenly between three knockouts and three submissions. Five have ended in the first round.

Hunt has already shown more variety than the record of a one-dimensional regional finisher. He can wrestle, submit opponents and hurt them standing, and his most recent victory came by kneebar against Devin Smyth in March.

Mayton Perea brings an 8-3 record from Ecuador and has never needed the judges in a professional victory. All eight wins have come by stoppage, with five KO/TKOs and three submissions.

Perea also carries a serious wrestling background, but his recent results have increasingly come from his hands. He enters Mayton Perea vs. Zevan Hunt on a three-fight winning streak, with each of those victories coming by strikes.

The matchup has generated a fairly even split in public opinion. One widely shared prediction argued that Perea was being undervalued and made him the preferred side in the main event, while also identifying two sizeable underdogs elsewhere on the card.

That is a third-party betting opinion, not an MMAtown pick. The actual matchup is close enough stylistically that Hunt's unbeaten record shouldn't automatically make him the obvious side, while Perea's three professional defeats are relevant when comparing durability and consistency.

Igor Cavalcanti returns to DWCS against Oscar Ravello

Igor Cavalcanti already knows what it feels like to fight under the Contender Series lights and leave without a contract.

Cavalcanti entered his first DWCS appearance unbeaten in 2024 but lost a unanimous decision to Seok Hyeon Ko. It was the first time in his professional career that he had even gone to the scorecards.

He returns two years later with a 13-2 record and one of the most aggressive finishing profiles on the card: all 13 of Cavalcanti's professional victories have ended inside the distance, including 10 by KO or TKO and three by submission.

His opponent, Oscar Ravello, is 13-3-1 and offers a different type of experience. Ravello has seven knockout wins, three submissions and three decisions, and comes into Igor Cavalcanti vs. Oscar Ravello following consecutive victories.

This is also the Week 6 fight where social-media handicappers seem particularly divided.

The prediction above identified Ravello as a live underdog. Another prospect-focused account came to the opposite conclusion, praising Ravello's boxing but questioning the level of opposition behind his regional success.

The criticism is opinion rather than an objective verdict on Ravello's résumé, but it gets to the main question. Cavalcanti has already experienced the pace and pressure of DWCS, failed once and rebuilt. Ravello is getting his first opportunity to prove his regional form translates against that level of opponent.

Akbar Abdullaev may be the most proven fighter on the entire card

The most recognizable name to hardcore international MMA fans is probably Akbar Abdullaev.

Abdullaev is 13-0 with a 100 percent finishing rate. He went 5-0 in ONE Championship and stopped every opponent he faced there, culminating in a fifth-round TKO of then-ONE featherweight champion Tang Kai in January 2025.

Abdullaev did not leave that fight with the championship because he had missed ONE's hydrated weight requirement beforehand, but the competitive result still stands: he dominated and stopped an established world champion.

That makes his appearance on DWCS unusual. He isn't an unknown prospect trying to prove he can compete above the regional level. He has already fought meaningful international opposition and succeeded.

His opponent, Ednilson Santos, accepted the fight on short notice. Santos enters at 14-7-1 and most recently defeated Shaheen Santana by majority decision at LFA 233 in May.

The gap in public expectations around Akbar Abdullaev vs. Ednilson Santos is obvious, and one prospect account summed up the hype around Abdullaev in rather dramatic terms.

The language there is obviously social-media hyperbole. What isn't exaggerated is the résumé: 13 fights, 13 wins and 13 finishes makes Abdullaev one of the most accomplished athletes to appear on Season 10 so far.

Luis Hernandez vs Hugo Guillon has real finishing potential

Luis Hernandez enters DWCS at 7-0 with seven finishes, while Hugo Guillon is 7-1 with six stoppage victories.

That alone gives Luis Hernandez vs. Hugo Guillon one of the most obvious finish-or-be-finished profiles on Week 6.

Hernandez has three knockout wins and four submissions and is also the Combat Night middleweight champion. Away from MMA, he works as a deputy sheriff in Miami-Dade.

His strangest career highlight came at Titan FC 83 in 2023. Hernandez extended his hand in what appeared to be the beginning of a glove touch and immediately threw a head kick that knocked Brian Topp out. The official broadcast announced the finish at one second, making it one of the fastest recorded knockouts in professional MMA.

One bettor who says he was in attendance for that finish likes Hernandez as the underdog against Guillon, pointing to his boxing, durability and cardio while predicting that he can defend the Frenchman's takedowns.

The tweet refers to a three-second knockout, while the Titan FC broadcast officially recorded Hernandez's finish of Topp at one second.

Luis Hernandez is also the fighter from the Sean Strickland cage incident

Hernandez's name may already be familiar for a completely different reason.

After submitting Miles Hunsinger at a Tuff-N-Uff event in June 2025, Hernandez taunted Hunsinger's corner. Sean Strickland and Chris Curtis were part of that corner and rushed into the cage, with Strickland throwing punches during the confrontation.

Strickland was later suspended for six months and fined over the incident.

That story has overshadowed some of Hernandez's actual fighting credentials. Guillon should force the attention back onto them.

The French middleweight is 7-1, has won six consecutive fights and owns six finishes. Five of his victories have come in the opening round. He also has a long judo background and has spent time training with Dricus Du Plessis' team in South Africa.

This is far more interesting than Hernandez's viral history suggests: two aggressive middleweights with a combined 13 finishes in 14 victories and legitimate reasons to believe they can force the other into uncomfortable positions.

Tyshawn Williams puts his 8-0 record against Antônio Monteiro's experience

The opening fight pairs an undefeated prospect with a veteran getting a second shot at the Contender Series.

Tyshawn Williams is 8-0 and trains at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas. He has a wrestling background dating back to childhood and has developed into a well-rounded featherweight with four knockout victories, one submission and three decisions.

Williams' most recent appearance was a first-round knockout of Khabibullo Azizov in January.

Antônio Monteiro, also known as Junior Negão, brings vastly more professional experience at 18-5-1. The Nova União fighter is making his second Contender Series appearance after losing a short-notice decision in 2024.

Monteiro's game is considerably more seasoned than the records of many fighters arriving on DWCS. He has six submission wins and has never been knocked out professionally.

That experience is why at least some observers are interested in him as an underdog against the unbeaten Williams. The same prediction post that backed Perea also identified Monteiro as a potential live dog.

Whether experience can offset Williams' wrestling, athleticism and home-gym familiarity is the central question in Tyshawn Williams vs. Antônio Monteiro.

DWCS Week 6 predictions: what are people picking?

MMAtown isn't making official picks for this card, but the prediction discussion around Week 6 is interesting because there is very little agreement beyond Abdullaev being viewed as the clear favorite.

Some handicappers see value in experienced underdogs such as Ravello and Monteiro. Others are skeptical that Ravello's regional opposition has prepared him for Cavalcanti's pressure. Hernandez is another divisive one: Guillon enters with a longer current winning streak, while Hernandez supporters point to his unbeaten record and finishing ability.

A Spanish-language breakdown circulating before the event framed Week 6 around exactly those themes: undefeated prospects, second opportunities and a card loaded with finishers trying to leave an impression.

The key thing is separating those opinions from facts. Public betting predictions can be useful for understanding where people see matchup advantages, but they aren't MMAtown selections and they don't change what each fighter has actually shown in competition.
