DWCS 2026 Week 9 Preview & Predictions: Onley vs. Bierley, Odds and Full Fight Card

DWCS 2026 Week 9 Preview & Predictions: Onley vs. Bierley, Odds and Full Fight Card

Dana White's Contender Series reaches the penultimate episode of its 2026 season on Tuesday, October 6, and the contract rate has set an unusual standard for everybody walking into the Meta APEX.

Through eight weeks, 38 fighters have earned UFC contracts from 39 completed fights. Week 9 brings another five matchups, led by undefeated British bantamweight Summer Onley against Alivia Bierley, while two unbeaten welterweight finishers meet in Salhahuddin Everett vs. Ozzy Martin.

Contender Series 2026: Week 9 begins at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT in Las Vegas and streams on Paramount+ in the United States.

The betting board is now open across the entire card. As of October 5, Summer Onley is -170 against Alivia Bierley at +138, Sal Everett is -172 against Ozzy Martin at +140, Alexander Chavez is -188 against Roque Conceição at +152, Mateus Soares is -210 against Ryuho Miyaguchi at +168, and Nell Ariano is -215 against short-notice replacement Preston LaGrange at +172.

Not every favorite is worth paying for. There are two spots we particularly like at the current numbers, plus one underdog whose price is difficult to ignore.

Summer Onley vs. Alivia Bierley

The featured women's bantamweight fight pairs two prospects who have done considerably more finishing than the division's stereotype would suggest.

Summer Onley is 6-0 with five KO/TKO victories and arrives as the reigning Full Contact Contender bantamweight champion. Fighting out of Ronin MMA in Birmingham, she also has a substantial Brazilian jiu-jitsu background, giving her more depth than a quick look at the five knockouts might suggest.

Alivia Bierley lost her professional debut by split decision but has won five straight since, including three stoppages. The 30-year-old trains under former UFC fighter Pete Spratt and most recently stopped Nikola Kacperska in July.

Onley deserves favoritism. She has remained unbeaten, carries genuine finishing power and has a broader combat-sports base than the record alone shows. The question is whether -170 offers enough margin against a physically strong opponent who has improved consistently since her debut.

MMAtown pick: Summer Onley. Betting verdict: pass on the -170 moneyline. The more interesting angle is the fight not going the distance if that prop is available at a reasonable number, considering Onley has finished five of six wins and Bierley has stopped three of her last five opponents.

Sal Everett vs. Ozzy Martin: the underdog spot we like

Sal Everett vs. Ozzy Martin may be the most intriguing betting fight on the Week 9 card.

Sal Everett is only 4-0 professionally, but none of those four fights has lasted three minutes. He has two wins by KO/TKO and two by submission and carries unusual size for a welterweight at 6-foot-3.

There is also a unique story attached to him. Everett has worked for the UFC, including roles in security and as one of Dana White's runners. A win on Tuesday would take him directly from working around UFC events to competing on the UFC roster.

Ozzy Martin is also 4-0 and has knocked out all four professional MMA opponents. The 24-year-old Peruvian-born prospect has competed professionally in boxing and kickboxing as well, so Everett's physical advantages don't automatically translate into an advantage in open striking exchanges.

Everett is currently -172, with Martin available at +140. That feels wider than the matchup itself.

Everett's size, early grappling threat and finishing record are all legitimate, but this is still a fighter with four professional appearances cutting back to welterweight against perhaps the cleaner pure striker of the two. Martin's ability to finish fights suddenly makes +140 appealing enough to accept the risk.

MMAtown value pick: Ozzy Martin +140.

Roque Conceição vs. Alexander Chavez

Roque Conceição already knows what a Contender Series opportunity feels like — and how quickly it can disappear.

The Brazilian is 11-3 with eight KO/TKO wins and two submissions. He appeared on DWCS in 2025 but was stopped in the first round by Imanol Rodriguez. Conceição responded in March by knocking out Yamato Fujita in the opening round, earning another trip to Las Vegas.

The problem is that Alexander Chavez has yet to lose at any meaningful stage of his MMA career. Chavez went 6-0 as an amateur and is now 9-0 professionally, with six KO/TKO victories. He trains at Pitbull Martial Arts Center in Peru alongside experienced fighters including Enrique Barzola and Jesus Pinedo.

There is more proven professional experience on Conceição's side, but Chavez looks like the steadier prospect. He is slightly taller, has shown enough power to punish defensive mistakes and doesn't bring the same vulnerability that surfaced during Conceição's first DWCS appearance.

At -188, the line is no longer cheap, but it hasn't reached the point where we would automatically stay away.

MMAtown pick: Alexander Chavez. Betting lean: Chavez -188 is playable, but not as attractive as our strongest two positions.

Mateus Soares vs. Ryuho Miyaguchi

Mateus Soares vs. Ryuho Miyaguchi brings together two bantamweights who rarely leave their fights to the judges.

Mateus Soares is only 22 but already owns an 11-2 professional record. Ten of his 11 victories have come inside the distance — nine by KO/TKO and one by submission — and he enters Week 9 on a four-fight winning streak.

Ryuho Miyaguchi is 7-1 with six knockouts of his own. His one defeat came in May when Chungreng Koren submitted him in the opening round of the Road to UFC bantamweight tournament. Before that loss, Miyaguchi had put together seven consecutive professional wins.

Miyaguchi also brings an enormous height advantage for this weight class: roughly 5-foot-10 against Soares at 5-foot-4. His kicking game can make that difference matter if he controls the range. Although he can be a bit weak on the wrestling department.

Soares has nevertheless faced the more convincing schedule and has considerably more professional experience despite being six years younger. His pressure and finishing ability are enough for us to favor him, but -210 asks for a win probability of roughly two-thirds before even considering the bookmaker's margin.

MMAtown pick: Mateus Soares. Betting verdict: no strong moneyline value at -210. Miyaguchi's size and knockout ability make this too volatile to chase the favorite.

Nell Ariano vs. Preston LaGrange: our favorite favorite

This matchup only came together late. Nell Ariano was originally booked against unbeaten Ivan Gnizditskiy, but visa issues removed Gnizditskiy from the card. Preston LaGrange accepted the fight on short notice and moves from middleweight to light heavyweight for the opportunity.

LaGrange is 6-1 with all six wins inside the distance: four submissions and two KO/TKOs. The former wrestler has won his last two fights by submission and was already preparing for an October bout, so this isn't the same as pulling an inactive fighter off the couch.

Ariano is a different-sized problem. The 6-foot-4 French light heavyweight is 6-0, has four wins by KO/TKO and is a judo black belt who previously competed at a high level in the sport. He also won the IMMAF European Championships before beginning his professional MMA career and has built his current record entirely against Cage Warriors opposition.

Ariano is currently -215, with LaGrange +172. Short-notice replacements can create betting traps, but the circumstances here favor the man who was preparing specifically for a light heavyweight Contender Series fight. Ariano is naturally bigger, has a strong clinch and judo base to deal with LaGrange's grappling, and has already been tested over three rounds.

MMAtown value pick: Nell Ariano -215. This is our favorite favorite on the Week 9 board.

DWCS Week 9 odds and MMAtown picks

Fight Current odds MMAtown pick Betting view
Summer Onley vs. Alivia Bierley Onley -170 / Bierley +138 Summer Onley Pass moneyline
Sal Everett vs. Ozzy Martin Everett -172 / Martin +140 Ozzy Martin Martin +140 — value underdog
Roque Conceição vs. Alexander Chavez Conceição +152 / Chavez -188 Alexander Chavez Chavez -188 — playable
Ryuho Miyaguchi vs. Mateus Soares Miyaguchi +168 / Soares -210 Mateus Soares Pass at current price
Preston LaGrange vs. Nell Ariano LaGrange +172 / Ariano -215 Nell Ariano Ariano -215 — best favorite

Odds are an October 5 snapshot and can move significantly before fight time. Our clearest straight-moneyline positions at the current numbers are Ariano -215 and Martin +140, with Chavez -188 a smaller lean. Soares and Onley are our picks to win their respective fights, but neither price gives us enough separation from the matchup risk to force a bet.
