EFC 139 Preview: Mkhwanazi vs. Hinda, Full Fight Card, Odds & Weigh-In Results

Extreme Fighting Championship returns to Johannesburg on Thursday, November 5, 2026, with a new main event, a battle between unbeaten lightweight prospects and a significant weight miss that has added uncertainty to one of the supporting fights.

South Africa's Godfrey "FeralSpunky" Mkhwanazi faces undefeated Namibian Veja "Hinda Boy" Hinda in a 141-pound catchweight headliner at EFC 139, replacing the original matchup between Hinda and Coenie Lamprecht after Lamprecht suffered a concussion during training.

The revised 10-fight lineup also features Nasiphi Vellem against Grant Farrow, Sisa Jungula facing returning veteran Micky Cloete, and the unbeaten Yaseen Adams taking on Ayanda Zwane.

Wednesday's official weigh-ins produced plenty of confrontation. Hinda shoved Mkhwanazi during their final face-off, Zwane missed the featherweight limit by 4.1 pounds, and several fighters exchanged heated words before Thursday's event.

Unlike many recent EFC cards, there is no championship fight scheduled. Instead, the promotion's penultimate event of 2026 is built around emerging prospects, fighters trying to rebuild momentum and matchups that could influence future title opportunities.

Godfrey Mkhwanazi vs. Veja Hinda: New EFC 139 main event

The biggest storyline heading into EFC 139 is the difference between Godfrey Mkhwanazi's professional experience and Veja Hinda's rapid rise through African MMA.

Mkhwanazi vs. Hinda was assembled after Coenie Lamprecht withdrew from the original headliner because of a concussion sustained in training camp.

Mkhwanazi accepted the replacement opportunity shortly after competing at EFC 138 on October 1, when he defeated Clelio Diogo by split decision.

The 25-year-old South African enters with a 6-5 professional record, having already experienced considerably more competitive setbacks and difficult fights than his undefeated opponent.

His approach is built around aggressive exchanges, forward pressure and a willingness to work through extended contests. Against Diogo, he demonstrated that he could stay competitive over three rounds rather than depending entirely on an early finish.

That experience could prove important against Hinda, whose professional career is still in its early stages.

The Namibian arrives at 2-0, but his combat-sports background extends beyond those two appearances. Hinda previously won gold at the 2022 IMMAF African Championships, giving him an amateur foundation that shouldn't be overlooked when evaluating his limited professional record.

His most recent performance was particularly impressive.

At EFC 134 in June, Hinda stopped Bheki Ngcobo with a devastating right hand at 2:09 of the opening round. The punch sent Ngcobo to the canvas and earned Hinda a performance bonus.

The victory established him as one of Namibia's promising bantamweight prospects and helped secure the main-event opportunity initially scheduled against Lamprecht.

Now he faces a different opponent, but with potentially similar rewards for his career.

How does the Mkhwanazi vs. Hinda matchup look?

Mkhwanazi's strongest argument is experience. He has competed in 11 professional fights compared with Hinda's two and has recently completed a competitive three-round contest against an established EFC opponent.

But that advantage comes with a cost: he is returning to action only five weeks after his victory over Diogo, having accepted this matchup on relatively short notice.

Hinda has had more time to prepare for a fight, even though his original opponent was different. His amateur experience and demonstrated punching power give him a credible route to victory without relying on a significant professional sample.

Both fighters made the agreed catchweight limit during Wednesday's official weigh-ins. Mkhwanazi registered exactly 141.0 pounds, while Hinda came in at 140.3 pounds.

Their final face-off quickly turned confrontational when Hinda pushed his opponent in the chest and predicted that the fight would not reach the final bell.

Mkhwanazi responded with his own promise to deliver an aggressive performance inside the Hexagon.

For Hinda, a victory would preserve his unbeaten record while adding a considerably more experienced opponent to his résumé. For Mkhwanazi, defeating one of Namibia's leading young prospects would turn an unexpected main-event opportunity into a second important victory in five weeks.

Nasiphi Vellem vs. Grant Farrow: Undefeated lightweights collide

The co-main event may be the most straightforward prospect-versus-prospect contest on the card.

Nasiphi Vellem vs. Grant Farrow brings together two South African lightweights who have yet to suffer a professional defeat.

Vellem, known as "The Honey Badger," enters at 3-0-1 and has already experienced several different kinds of professional fights.

His most recent victory came at EFC 136 in August, when he defeated Lucky Magekha by unanimous decision. The contest received Fight of the Night recognition and offered valuable evidence of Vellem's ability to maintain his pace through a demanding three-round fight.

Grant "Friction" Farrow has made a promising start of his own.

The 26-year-old represents Forge MMA and brings a 2-0 record into his third professional appearance. His first EFC fight ended with a first-round submission victory, and his second demonstrated that he could also work through a full contest.

Neither fighter has faced a particularly large sample of professional opposition, making it difficult to draw definitive conclusions about their ceiling.

Vellem has the advantage in recorded professional appearances, while Farrow has already demonstrated a willingness to pursue submissions aggressively.

The pre-fight face-off was tense but controlled, with neither fighter offering a handshake.

Both made lightweight without issue: Vellem weighed 154.9 pounds and Farrow 153.7 pounds.

Unlike the main event, this is not a contest between an experienced professional and a developing prospect. It is an opportunity to find out which of two unbeaten lightweights is better prepared for the next level of opposition.

Sisa Jungula vs. Micky Cloete: Former prospect meets experienced finisher

Sisa Jungula's professional record doesn't tell the complete story of his development.

The South African flyweight is 3-3 and has experienced both sides of the sport's unpredictable matchmaking. Among his victories is a notable win over Coenie Lamprecht, the fighter originally scheduled to headline EFC 139.

More recently, however, Jungula has struggled. He lost to Thapelo Seabi at EFC 134 and was subsequently submitted by Ntando Zondi in the third round at EFC 137 in September.

Jungula vs. Cloete offers him an opportunity to return to winning form, but Micky "The Mouse" Cloete is a dangerous assignment.

Cloete has five recorded professional victories and a background that includes considerable submission experience. He returns after an extended period without regular professional competition.

That inactivity is one of the central questions surrounding his performance. Cloete's experience and finishing ability make him a threat, but Jungula has been competing more recently against active EFC opposition.

The contest has championship implications only in the longer term. Neither fighter is competing for a belt on Thursday, but a convincing victory would strengthen his position within the flyweight division.

Both successfully made weight, with Jungula registering 125.3 pounds and Cloete exactly 125.0 pounds.

Ayanda Zwane misses weight ahead of Yaseen Adams fight

The most significant problem at the EFC 139 weigh-ins involved Ayanda "The Power" Zwane.

He arrived at the scale at 150.1 pounds for his scheduled featherweight fight against Yaseen "Fudog" Adams, missing the 146-pound non-title limit by 4.1 pounds.

Adams, meanwhile, successfully weighed in at 144.7 pounds.

The difference is substantial, particularly for two fighters who had been preparing for the same weight class.

Despite the miss, Zwane vs. Adams remained on the official event lineup in the available weigh-in report. Any revised conditions or penalties had not been fully detailed in that announcement.

The confrontation afterward was almost as notable as the numbers on the scale.

Adams entered wearing a mask, while Zwane appeared in traditional Zulu headwear. The pair moved into an aggressive face-off, pressing their heads together and exchanging threats before being separated.

From a competitive perspective, Adams enters with greater momentum.

He is 4-0-1 and remains unbeaten through five professional appearances. Zwane, 7-6, has considerably more experience but comes into the event following a unanimous decision defeat to Lewis Mataya at EFC 137.

The weight miss introduces another issue for Adams, who must now prepare for the possibility of facing an opponent who was significantly heavier than their contracted limit.

Until the promotion confirms every condition of the matchup, it would be premature to assume that both fighters will compete under completely unchanged arrangements.

Eduardo Barros vs. Roevan de Beer: Bantamweights seeking momentum

Another main-card fight pairs Brazilian Eduardo Barros against South African veteran Roevan de Beer.

Both have substantial professional experience and have already experienced difficult stretches in their careers.

Barros enters with five professional victories and has recently returned to winning form. De Beer has nine recorded victories and a history of finishing opponents, although his overall record reflects an inconsistent career.

Barros vs. De Beer offers both men an opportunity to improve their standing in the bantamweight division rather than immediately pursue a championship.

Barros weighed 135.3 pounds and De Beer 135.0 pounds, with both clearing the non-title bantamweight limit.

Dayne van Wyk vs. Charmaine Venter: Women's featherweight clash

One of the more interesting preliminary contests features the return of Dayne "Quiet Storm" van Wyk against Charmaine "The Terminator" Venter.

Van Wyk is 4-1 professionally and has not competed since her November 2024 defeat to Juliet Chukwu. That loss came in a five-round championship contest, providing a level of experience that few fighters with only five professional appearances possess.

Venter is at the opposite end of her MMA development.

The 32-year-old from Carletonville made her professional debut in July 2026, stopping Anisha Khadka by first-round TKO at EFC 135. She now attempts to improve to 2-0 against a considerably more experienced opponent.

There is also an obvious physical difference. Venter stands approximately 5-foot-9, while van Wyk is around 5-foot-3.

That height advantage could matter during striking exchanges, particularly given both fighters' backgrounds in kickboxing.

But van Wyk's championship experience and history of fighting through longer contests make her a more complicated challenge than Venter's debut opponent.

Both fighters successfully weighed in, with van Wyk at 144.2 pounds and Venter at 144.7 pounds.

Godknows Ndlovu vs. Zeca Martinho adds tension to EFC 139 prelims

The biggest confrontation at Monday's media day came from two fighters who aren't even competing on the main card.

Zimbabwean Godknows "The General" Ndlovu and undefeated Mozambican prospect Zeca "Gorilla" Martinho had to be separated after their face-off became heated.

Martinho specifically requested the matchup and is moving up in weight to challenge a more experienced opponent.

He enters at 2-0, with decision victories over Sisa Jungula and Philani Ngqoyiya.

Ndlovu, 6-6, has already fought considerably more often and previously defeated Roevan de Beer. He has welcomed the challenge and suggested that the pressure is on Martinho, who actively sought the fight.

The two were noticeably more controlled during Wednesday's official weigh-in, although their earlier confrontation has added interest to Ndlovu vs. Martinho.

Both made bantamweight, with Ndlovu registering 132.7 pounds and Martinho 134.0 pounds.

Other EFC 139 preliminary fights

The remaining three preliminary contests feature a mix of developing prospects, fighters attempting to recover from difficult results and one professional debutant.

David Makane vs. Tyron Lamprecht takes place at bantamweight. Makane enters at 1-4 and needs to reverse a difficult run of results. Lamprecht is 2-1 and makes his EFC debut after beginning his professional career with Versus MMA. Both made weight at 134.8 and 136.0 pounds respectively.

Salahuddin Plaatjies vs. Story Mpia Embombe is scheduled at a 130-pound catchweight. Plaatjies has more recorded professional experience, while Embombe represents DR Congo. Both made the agreed weight, with Plaatjies registering 129.7 pounds and Embombe 129.9 pounds.

Opening the event, Andile Gasa vs. Phillip Cronje is a featherweight matchup between a fighter still searching for his first professional victory and a newcomer making his professional MMA debut. Gasa enters at 0-2, while Cronje is 0-0. Their weigh-in figures were 140.8 and 144.4 pounds.

EFC 139 betting odds and matchup analysis

The betting market makes Veja Hinda a substantial favorite in the main event, despite Godfrey Mkhwanazi's considerably greater professional experience.

Published moneylines also favor Nasiphi Vellem over Grant Farrow and Sisa Jungula over Micky Cloete. However, odds vary between operators, and several of these fighters have relatively small or inconsistent professional records.

The following decimal prices are an indicative pre-event sportsbook snapshot, not guaranteed live offers:

Matchup Fighter 1 Fighter 2
Mkhwanazi vs. Hinda Mkhwanazi 3.10 Hinda 1.32
Vellem vs. Farrow Vellem 1.51 Farrow 2.40
Jungula vs. Cloete Jungula 1.38 Cloete 2.85
Barros vs. De Beer Barros 1.42 De Beer 2.65
Ndlovu vs. Martinho Ndlovu 2.65 Martinho 1.42

Hinda's finishing power and strong amateur background explain his favoritism, but a 2-0 professional record makes it difficult to justify treating him as a certainty against an opponent who has already completed 11 professional contests.

Vellem appears to have a narrower advantage against Farrow, making their co-main event more interesting from a competitive perspective.

The weight miss in Zwane vs. Adams adds further uncertainty to that matchup, particularly until all arrangements for the fight have been confirmed.

MMAtown betting assessment: No official bet. Hinda and Vellem are reasonable favorites, but the current prices and limited professional sample sizes do not provide a sufficiently clear value opportunity.
