LFA 240 Results: Dedrek Sanders Sweeps Luis Gomez, Shane Sobnosky Scores 27-Second KO

Dedrek Sanders shuts out Luis Gomez in the LFA 240 main event

LFA returned to Clarksville, Tennessee with a card full of early finishes, but the main event belonged to patience and control. Dedrek Sanders handled Luis Gomez over all three rounds of LFA 240, earning identical 30-27 scorecards from every judge at F&M Bank Arena.

The lightweight headliner never required a dramatic finishing sequence. Sanders consistently dictated where the fight took place, kept Gomez from building sustained momentum and won enough of every round to leave no debate when the scores were read. The unanimous decision in Sanders vs. Gomez moved the Tennessee lightweight to 12-5 and gave him another important win in a crowded LFA 155-pound picture.

Gomez entered as the more internationally traveled of the two, but Sanders' pace and consistency made the difference in front of his home-state crowd. For a fighter who has spent years working through LFA's lightweight division, a clean main-event sweep was exactly the sort of performance that keeps his name around the title conversation.

Akbarjon Islomboev submits Elvis Silva in the first round

The co-main event was much shorter. Akbarjon Islomboev took the back of Elvis Silva and finished Islomboev vs. Silva with a rear-naked choke at 4:13 of Round 1.

Islomboev had missed the featherweight limit at Thursday's weigh-in, coming in at 146.2 pounds, so the bout moved ahead with the appropriate penalty. Once they were in the cage, though, he made sure the judges were never involved.

Shane Sobnosky Jr. needs only 27 seconds

The fastest professional finish at LFA 240 came from Shane Sobnosky Jr., who barely gave Andrew Stewart time to settle into their middleweight fight.

Sobnosky hurt Stewart immediately and closed the show with punches and elbows just 27 seconds into Sobnosky vs. Stewart. On a card with several quick submissions, it still stood out as the shortest finish of the night.

Finn Martin stays perfect with another first-round stoppage

Finn Martin kept his unbeaten professional start going against Mataeo Garner. Their light heavyweight fight made it deep into the opening round before Martin found the breakthrough, finishing with punches at 4:17.

The victory in Martin vs. Garner gave Martin another stoppage and added a second first-round finish to the LFA 240 main card.

Two other main-card fights reached the judges. Francisco Hernandez defeated Alexander Schenk by unanimous decision in Hernandez vs. Schenk, while Quadarrius McGinnis swept all three rounds against Austin Miller in McGinnis vs. Miller.

Schenk had weighed 152 pounds for the featherweight matchup, one of three misses on the card, but Hernandez still took the fight and won 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.

LFA 240 prelims turn into a submission showcase

The preliminary card had a clear theme: once somebody found the neck, the fight was usually over quickly.

Chuy Rodriguez needed only 90 seconds against Jarred Gonzales. Rodriguez worked into mount and locked up a one-arm guillotine to finish Rodriguez vs. Gonzales at 1:30 of Round 1.

Myles Dillahunty followed with another rapid submission against Sam Fournier. After a frantic opening sequence, Dillahunty took the back and secured the rear-naked choke at 1:28 of Dillahunty vs. Fournier.

Kue Htoo had to wait until the second round, but the finish was familiar. He submitted Ray Taylor with a guillotine choke at 3:51 of Htoo vs. Taylor.
