PFL Africa Johannesburg Results: Ocheme, Esperanca, and Sankara Lead a Night of Finishes in South Africa

The Professional Fighters League made a thunderous return to the continent with PFL Africa Johannesburg, the second card of its Africa series. Held on August 9, 2025, the night featured first-round bouts in both the featherweight and welterweight tournaments, delivering a mix of quick stoppages, gritty decisions, and a few surprises.

In the main event, Nigeria’s own Patrick Ocheme showcased composure and sharp striking against Guinea’s Mohamed Camara, earning a unanimous decision to advance in the featherweight bracket. Earlier in the night, Shido Boris Esperanca wasted no time, locking up a rear-naked choke in just 34 seconds against Ibrahima Mané in a welterweight clash.

The welterweight tournament saw another quick finish as Ayinda Octave forced the retirement of British Boloyoang inside two minutes. Yabna N’Tchalá battled through three rounds to edge Sanon Sadeck on the scorecards, while Emilios Dassi delivered a highlight-reel KO over Osvaldo Benedito.

In featherweight action, Wasi Adeshina submitted Jean-Jacques Lubaya with a slick second-round rear-naked choke, and Dwight Joseph landed a flying knee to stop Wilker Nsamo late in round two. A catchweight bout saw Abderrahman Errachidy drop Elbert Lukas Steyn with a body shot just 14 seconds into the second round.

Perhaps the most jaw-dropping finish came from Abdul Razac Sankara, who floored Shadrick Dju Yemba with a head kick in the first round. In the welterweight alternate bout, Kunle Lawal edged Desmond Awa Tamungang by decision.
