Saturday MMA Results: PFL Africa Nigeria, WAR MMA 9 Cartagena and FNC Vikings 2 Deliver Finish-Heavy Night

Saturday MMA recap: PFL Africa, WAR MMA 9 and FNC Vikings 2 all had something to say

This was one of those Saturdays where the smaller and regional scenes did a lot of heavy lifting. PFL continued its African rollout with PFL Africa: Nigeria in Lagos, WAR MMA went to Cartagena for WAR 9: Cartagena, and FNC ran FNC Vikings 2 at American Top Team in Zagreb. Different countries, different stages, but the same weekend theme: fast finishes, tournament movement, and a few new names worth tracking.

PFL Africa Nigeria: grapplers took over in Lagos

The big story from PFL Africa: Nigeria was how quickly several fighters made their point. Nacho Campos vs. Wasi Adeshina ended in just 1:45, with Campos taking the back and finishing by rear-naked choke. It was the kind of clean first-round submission that instantly makes a tournament bracket feel serious.

Karim Henniene vs. Thimna Mhlauli followed the same script, with Henniene using an anaconda choke to move forward in the bantamweight tournament. Jordan Fongno vs. Yahaya Yahuza gave Cameroon a strong moment with a second-round TKO, while Hussain Al Kurdi vs. Abderrahman Errachidy ended with Al Kurdi winning by rear-naked choke in round two.

WAR MMA 9 Cartagena: Óscar Hernández wins lightweight gold in his pro debut

The wildest headline from WAR 9: Cartagena belonged to Óscar Hernández vs. Ibrahim Ghechouti. Hernández won the vacant WAR lightweight championship by fifth-round KO/TKO, and doing that in his professional debut is the kind of regional MMA story that sounds fake until you see it written down.

The rest of the confirmed WAR MMA 9 results kept the Spanish card moving. Daniel Richardson vs. Luis Alberto Perez ended by first-round TKO, Darío Monreal vs. Jefferson Cobo ended by first-round rear-naked choke, Miguel Navarro vs. Saul Rivera went to Navarro by decision, and Lautaro Teneb vs. Franco Becerra also went the distance, with Teneb getting the win. Pablo Fuentes also submitted Antonio Lopez by rear-naked choke in round one.

FNC Vikings 2: three superfights, three first-round finishes

FNC Vikings 2 did not need a long card to make noise. Dana Aghaie vs. Rinor Gashi ended with Aghaie landing a spinning elbow knockout in the featherweight main event. Sulejman Romańczyk vs. Nemanja Nikolić was even quicker, with Romańczyk winning by slam and ground-and-pound in just 26 seconds. Anže Vujčić vs. Ramiz Lupić completed the pro superfight sweep with another first-round knockout.
