Shara Magomedov firmly believes his highlight-reel knockout at UFC 308 was even more spectacular than Max Holloway’s last-second KO of Justin Gaethje at UFC 300.
At UFC 308, Sharaputdin Magomedov, also known as "Shara Bullet," stunned fans with an unprecedented double spinning backfist knockout against Armen Petrosyan. Despite earning the No. 4 spot on MMA Fighting’s Knockout of the Year rankings, Magomedov believes his unique finish deserves even greater recognition.
“Of course, I think mine is better because mine was really a work of art,” Magomedov said in an interview. “The Max knockout, even though it was fun to watch, was just a wild brawl. How many times have we seen that in the UFC? But what I did has never been done before in the octagon.”
While Holloway’s KO of Gaethje won the Knockout of the Year title, Magomedov remains confident that his finish will stand the test of time. “They got Knockout of the Year,” he said, “but mine was the Knockout of the Century.”
Magomedov is now set for another electrifying bout against Michael Page at UFC Saudi Arabia. Initially, Magomedov called for a fight with Israel Adesanya, but he respects Page’s willingness to step up. The fight takes place at middleweight, a division above Page’s usual weight class.
“I like what he’s doing,” Magomedov said of Page. “As long as he makes it into the octagon healthy, we’re going to put on a show for the fans. He’s in the pirate’s net now, and I’m going to reel him in.”
