Wasi Adeshina vs. Patrick Ocheme Set to Lead PFL Africa’s Explosive Johannesburg Showdown

PFL Africa: Wasi Adeshina and Patrick Ocheme Headline Explosive Johannesburg Fight Night

PFL returns to South Africa for PFL Africa: Johannesburg on August 9 — the second event in its groundbreaking African MMA series. Two of Nigeria’s top prospects, Wasi “The Nigerian Jaguar” Adeshina and Patrick Ocheme, are set to headline the card at the iconic Big Top Arena.

Adeshina (7–3) meets Congo’s surging featherweight Jean Jacques Lubaya (9–1) in a pivotal first-round tournament bout. Known for his athleticism and power, Adeshina will face a tough test against the finishing-minded Lubaya, who’s riding a wave of momentum into Johannesburg.

Meanwhile, Ocheme (6–1) brings his pressure-heavy striking game against Guinea’s promising contender Mohamed Camara (5–2–1). It’s a matchup of speed, range, and grit — with major implications for the featherweight bracket.

The co-main features Angola’s knockout machine Shido Boris Esperanca (9–1) against Gambia’s seasoned veteran Ibrahim Mané (14–5) in a welterweight clash fans won’t want to miss.

With 32 fighters from 15 countries across four weight classes, the PFL Africa league is redefining African MMA. The season opened in Cape Town on July 19 and now heads to Johannesburg with even more momentum and continental pride on the line.

This is more than a fight card — it’s a proving ground for Africa’s next generation of MMA stars. August 9 promises high-stakes battles and breakout moments for the sport’s fastest-growing region.
