A wild MMA weekend across Europe, the Middle East pipeline and the UFC Apex
This was one of those weekends where the UFC was not the only story, and honestly not even the first one. Oktagon MMA, ARES Fighting Championship, Way of Warriors FC, Brave Combat Federation, and the UFC all had meaningful cards, and the best moments came from everywhere. There were rare submissions, title fights, upsets, fast knockouts, local crowd silencers, and a few ugly endings too.
OKTAGON 89: Jack Grant steals the show, Severino vs Zhumagulov ends badly
OKTAGON 89: Severino vs. Zhumagulov should have ended with a clear bantamweight title story. Instead, Igor Severino vs. Zhalgas Zhumagulov was ruled a no contest after an accidental low blow stopped the fight in the second round. Severino had been sharp and dangerous before the foul, which made the ending feel even more frustrating.

Igor Severino dominował i serwował nam kapitalne kombinacje w klatce. Niestety jeden z ciosów był uderzony za nisko…

The cleanest highlight of the card was Jack Grant vs. Ronald Paradeiser. Grant hurt Paradeiser early, then hit a rare modified twister in the first round. That is not a normal submission to see at this level, and it instantly became one of the weekend’s best finishes.
Grant předvedl dokonalou bouři, první ranou skvěle trefil a pak ukázal high level BJJ 🤯#Oktagon89 pic.twitter.com/brnup896Ub

The rest of the OKTAGON card had depth. Lazar Todev vs. Martin Buday went to Todev by decision, Robert Pukač vs. Brian Manning ended with Pukač winning on the cards, and Veronika Smolková vs. Lisa Kyriacou gave Smolková another strong submission win.

Marek Bartl vs. Jozef Wittner ended with Bartl stopping Wittner in round two, while Adam Pałasz vs. Patrick Vespaziani gave Pałasz a first-round heavyweight TKO. The prelims also had movement, with Radovan Úškrt vs. Ondřej Raška, Rastislav Zvara vs. Michal Novotný, Daniel Schordje vs. Karol Ryšavý, Ayton De Paepe vs. Marco Novák, and Dastan Amangeldy vs. Moktar Benkaci rounding out the event.

ARES FC 41: Alvi Dasuyev wins gold, Brad Jean-Elie makes a violent debut
Ares FC 41: Dasuyev vs. Soumah delivered a clean headline moment. Alvi Dasuyev vs. Mohamed Soumah ended in the first round with Dasuyev taking the interim welterweight title by rear-naked choke. In a weekend full of title fights, this was one of the most efficient championship performances.

Benoit Prigent vs. Abdoulaye Dione went to Prigent by unanimous decision, while Sofiane El Fatni vs. Maher Belkhadir ended with elbows from mount in round one.
Brad Jean-Elie also gave ARES a real prospect clip. Brad Jean-Elie vs. Ivan Santana lasted only 30 seconds, with Jean-Elie finishing by punches and elbows in his professional debut. Add Obame Ndong vs. Turpal Susurov, Zaurbek Sabanov vs. Ivan Romanov, and Ludmila Scurco vs. Melissa Nebbache, and ARES had one of the more complete European cards of the weekend.

WOW 31 Madrid: Ibragimov takes the belt, Mokaev destroys Calvo
WOW 31: Madrid had two major headline pieces. First, Umakhan Ibragimov vs. Brian Hooi ended with Ibragimov winning the lightweight title by first-round TKO. Hooi is a hard veteran to put away, so that finish instantly becomes one of the biggest results on the WOW calendar.

Then there was Muhammad Mokaev vs. Jorge Calvo, which barely got started before Mokaev overwhelmed Calvo in under a minute. He keeps winning, he keeps calling for bigger fights, and every result like this keeps the pressure on whoever has to decide where he belongs next.

Ioan Harris vs. Antonio Fofirca also mattered because Harris handed Fofirca his first loss by rear-naked choke. The rest of the WOW card had Jonathan Garcia vs. Roberto Mario Ionescu, Juan Carlos Izquierdo vs. Levi Batchelor, Diego Esteche vs. Carlos Henrique Silva, and Paula Sanchez vs. Gabriella Carbone.

BRAVE CF 106: Dailidko keeps heavyweight gold, Maalem stops Erko Jun
BRAVE CF 106 & WFC 30 gave Slovenia a big international card, but the local crowd took some hits. Pavel Dailidko vs. Miha Frlic ended in just 80 seconds, with Dailidko defending the heavyweight title by TKO. That is exactly what a heavyweight champion is supposed to do on the road: remove doubt early.
BOOM 💯 Pavel "The Experiment" Dailidko needed just over a minute to silence the hometown crowd at BRAVE CF 106.

The light heavyweight title also changed hands in violent fashion. Mohamed Said Maalem vs. Erko Jun ended in round four, with Maalem stopping a tired Jun and taking the belt. Timon Huß vs. Domen Vergles was another crowd-silencer, with Huß knocking out the hometown debutant in under a minute.

The prelims included Domen Drnovsek vs. István Juhász, Edin Ramedovic vs. Sándor Polik, and Maja Drnovsek vs. Wiktoria Wojciechowska, where Drnovsek won quickly by arm-triangle choke.

UFC Vegas 118: Bonfim beats Muhammad, Bryce Mitchell steals a late submission
UFC Fight Night: Muhammad vs. Bonfim closed the weekend from the Apex. Gabriel Bonfim vs. Belal Muhammad went five rounds, with Bonfim taking a unanimous decision in the main event. It was not the loudest finish of the weekend, but it was a major result at welterweight.
