Dakota Ditcheva and Thad Jean meet on Fighters on Fighters
Dakota Ditcheva and Thad Jean sit down for Fighters on Fighters during a huge stretch of the PFL summer schedule. Both remain undefeated, both have already won PFL tournaments, and both are entering fights that could change how their divisions look for the rest of 2026.
The conversation brings together two very different personalities and fighting styles. Ditcheva has developed into one of the most dangerous strikers in women’s MMA, while Jean has powered his way through the PFL welterweight division with athleticism, pressure and an ability to produce his best work against experienced opponents.
They are at similar points in their careers, but the pressure around them is not quite the same. Ditcheva returns after a difficult year away from regular competition. Jean is preparing for a world championship fight only days before she steps into the cage in New York.
Dakota Ditcheva returns at PFL New York
Ditcheva faces former Bellator Kickboxing world champion Denise Kielholtz in the Dakota Ditcheva vs Denise Kielholtz co-main event at PFL New York.
The unbeaten British flyweight has not competed since defeating Sumiko Inaba in July 2025. Ditcheva completed that fight despite suffering a broken hand, then later injured her other hand while preparing for an earlier booking against Kielholtz. The long delay has made her return feel bigger than a standard showcase.
Ditcheva enters at 15-0 and has become one of the most recognisable fighters on the PFL roster through a combination of Muay Thai technique, body attacks and clinical finishing ability. She won the PFL Europe tournament before moving on to claim the global women’s flyweight tournament championship.
Kielholtz is not an opponent brought in simply to make Ditcheva look good. The Dutch veteran has years of elite kickboxing experience and also holds a black belt in judo, giving her tools both on the feet and in grappling exchanges. After a year away, Ditcheva must quickly rediscover her rhythm against someone comfortable fighting at a high pace.

Nurmagomedov vs Colgan headlines the New York card
The PFL New York main event features lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov against unbeaten challenger Archie Colgan.
Usman Nurmagomedov vs Archie Colgan brings together two undefeated lightweights with very different routes to the title fight. Nurmagomedov is already an established world champion with a complete striking and grappling game. Colgan built his challenge through collegiate wrestling, positional control and a steady climb through the division.
That championship matchup gives Ditcheva’s return an even larger stage. She is not coming back on a quiet card or a low-pressure preliminary slot. She is the co-main event beneath one of the most important lightweight fights PFL can currently make.
Thad Jean’s title fight changes at the last moment
Jean originally entered fight week expecting to face Shamil Musaev in the Jean vs Musaev world championship fight at PFL Washington DC.
Musaev was forced out because of complications during his weight cut, leaving Jean with a completely different opponent just two days before the event. Ernesto Rodriguez accepted the fight on short notice and will now meet Jean for the vacant PFL welterweight world championship.
The change creates a difficult mental and tactical test. Jean spent his camp preparing for Musaev’s striking, movement and long-range attacks. Rodriguez brings a wrestling-heavy approach and arrives with little to lose. Jean must adjust quickly without allowing the disappointment of losing the original matchup to affect his performance.
The undefeated Jean earned this opportunity by winning the 2025 PFL welterweight tournament, defeating Mukhamed Berkhamov, former Bellator champion Jason Jackson and Logan Storley during his run. His final step toward tournament gold is covered in PFL Origins: Thad Jean vs Logan Storley.
PFL Washington carries depth below the title fight
The Washington card also includes Sullivan Cauley vs Rasul Magomedov, an important light heavyweight matchup between two fighters with serious finishing ability.
Eliezer Kubanza vs Chris Mixan adds another welterweight fight with ranking implications. Kubanza brings physical pressure and knockout danger, while Mixan has the chance to move deeper into the PFL welterweight conversation on the same night a new champion is crowned.
Ditcheva and Jean therefore enter consecutive PFL events carrying different forms of pressure. Jean must adapt to a new world-title opponent with almost no notice. Six days later, Ditcheva must end a year of injury frustration against an experienced striker and grappler in New York.
