Karlos Vémola vs. Frederic Vosgröne Full Fight: Vémola Ends Unbeaten Run at OKTAGON 94
Karlos Vémola came out of retirement at OKTAGON 94 to face one of the promotion's fastest-rising stars. Frederic Vosgröne arrived in Frankfurt 5-0 with five submissions; less than ten minutes of fight time later, his unbeaten record was gone.

It was Vosgröne's first professional MMA defeat and a successful return for one of the most decorated names in OKTAGON MMA.
How Frederic Vosgröne reached the Vémola fight at 5-0
Vosgröne's rise had been unusually quick. A decorated grappler and BJJ black belt, "The Neanderthal" entered OKTAGON with a perfect submission record and broke through in front of a much larger audience against Jorick Montagnac at OKTAGON 69 in Dortmund.
Montagnac survived the first round, but Vosgröne eventually secured an arm-triangle in Round 2, becoming the first fighter to submit the French veteran. Five months later, he returned at OKTAGON 76 and submitted Fabio Moraes with a rear-naked choke at 4:15 of the opening round.
That made it five submissions from five professional victories and intensified the debate over how far the German prospect could go. MMAtown had previously examined that growing hype before his planned Cologne appearance in Frederic Vosgröne vs. Chavarria — “Fake Hype?”.
By the time Vosgröne called out Vémola, however, he was asking for a dramatic increase in experience level. Vémola had already fought nearly 50 professional bouts and had held OKTAGON championships at middleweight and light heavyweight.
Karlos Vémola returns after ending the Attila Végh trilogy
Vémola's appearance at OKTAGON 94 was not supposed to happen when 2025 began. His long rivalry with Attila Végh had been positioned as the closing chapter of both careers.
Végh won their first meeting by first-round knockout at OKTAGON 15 in 2019. Vémola finally gained revenge nearly five years later, submitting Végh with an arm-triangle choke at OKTAGON 58.
The score was settled at OKTAGON 72 in June 2025. Vémola won their five-round trilogy fight by unanimous decision and retired afterwards. The complete contest is also available in MMAtown's Vémola vs. Végh III full fight.
Roughly 15 months later, Vosgröne's challenge brought "The Terminator" back.
Vémola hands Vosgröne his first MMA defeat at OKTAGON 94
The matchup was particularly interesting because both men were strongest in the grappling exchanges. Vosgröne had never won an MMA fight by any method other than submission, while Vémola had built much of his career around takedowns, clinch pressure and top control.
In Frankfurt, experience won that battle. Vémola repeatedly pressured Vosgröne, controlled the exchanges against the cage and worked from top position. Late in the second round, another takedown put Vosgröne underneath him and Vémola opened up with ground-and-pound until the fight was stopped at 4:50.
Vémola's second-round TKO turned a comeback fight into one of the biggest results of the night: the 41-year-old returning veteran became the first man to beat Vosgröne as a professional and did it inside the German fighter's home-country stadium.
