Cage Warriors 198 Results: Omiel Brown Grabs Interim Gold at BEC Arena
Manchester’s BEC Arena hosted the second straight night of Cage Warriors action as Cage Warriors 198 delivered an interim title fight, a judging controversy and a few very real “future UFC” auditions. By the end of the night, Omiel Brown was holding lightweight gold and the Manchester crowd had plenty to argue about on the way home.
Omiel Brown Outworks Tugarev for Interim Lightweight Title
The main event saw Omiel Brown seize his moment and claim the interim lightweight strap with a hard-earned decision win over Omar Tugarev in Brown vs. Tugarev. Brown mixed his boxing, clinch work and cage control over five rounds, never letting Tugarev find a consistent rhythm. Tugarev had pockets of success with kicks and counters, but Brown’s pressure and output made the difference on the cards.

With the unanimous nod, Brown becomes the new interim champion at 155 lbs and plants himself firmly on the radar as one of Cage Warriors’ next in line for a call from the big show.
Judges Side with Bungard in Patrizi War
In the co-main event, veteran spoiler Chris Bungard added another gritty win to his résumé, taking a decision over Italian prospect Simone Patrizi in Bungard vs. Patrizi. The fight was tight and scrappy, with Patrizi having big moments on the back and in transitions, but the judges leaned toward Bungard’s forward pressure and damage.
Not everyone watching agreed, though, and social media immediately lit up with scorecard complaints and talk of “robbery,” especially around that 30–27 card.
30-27 U cant make this shit up, Bungard got backpacked for an Entire round and somehow they Gave him the Round? That was a clear win for Simone Patrizi, How do they get away with this corruption he Won the first 2 rounds easy. #CageWarriors198 #CW198

Shay Ingram, Jack Humphries and the Next Wave
One of the breakout performances of Cage Warriors 198 belonged to Shay Ingram, who moved to 4–0 with a composed, clinical finish of Wellington Lopes in Ingram vs. Lopes. Ingram mixed in level changes, clean combinations and smart defence before pouring it on for the stoppage.

Jack Humphries also made a statement earlier in the night, snatching an anaconda choke on Joab Souza in Humphries vs. Souza, while Fran Breen edged past Ayoub Nacer on the cards in Breen vs. Nacer. Tim Wilde added another solid name to his record with a smart decision over Oscar Ownsworth in Wilde vs. Ownsworth, reminding everyone that he’s still very much part of the lightweight mix.
Prelims: Prospects, Decisions and Sneaky Good Fights
The undercard at CW 198 quietly did its job in stocking future cards. In the bantamweight opener, Enrico Di Gangi turned back Jack McCloughlin with a composed performance in Di Gangi vs. McCloughlin. Roman David outworked Christian Soda at catchweight in David vs. Soda, and featherweight grinder Oliver Tero forced a tap from Davide Manente via arm-triangle choke in Tero vs. Manente.
Further down the bill, Nat Wood picked up a decision over Matthew Friel in Wood vs. Friel, while Chris Morris closed the show on the prelims with a solid win against Theo Pino in Morris vs. Pino. Together with the fireworks at Cage Warriors 197 the night before, this Manchester double-header underlined again why Cage Warriors remains Europe’s premier UFC feeder league.
