Cage Warriors 199 closes out the year in violent style
Newcastle got a classic as Cage Warriors Fighting Championship wrapped up 2025 with Cage Warriors 199: Clancy Jr. vs. van Suijdam. In the main event, Scotland’s Sean Clancy Jr made good on the hype, blitzing Melvin van Suijdam and walking away with interim welterweight gold.
The new champion didn’t need long. In the official bout listing for Clancy Jr. vs. van Suijdam, the finish is just “KO, 0:29 of round two,” but that doesn’t capture how nasty the final combination was. A sharp left hook detonated on the Dutchman, sending the Newcastle crowd into chaos and instantly making Clancy Jr one of the promotion’s must-watch names.
😲 He has done it again... Sean Clancy Jr with an absolutely devastating combo to win via KO. He is the NEW Interim Welterweight Champion 🤩#CW199 pic.twitter.com/YaawwY42yG

New flyweight king and a flying armbar of the year candidate
The co-main wasn’t exactly quiet, either. In the flyweight title fight, Nicolas Leblond survived rough moments then flipped the script on Shaq Haque. The official line on Leblond vs. Haque reads “RNC, 4:10 of round five” – a late submission in a draining championship battle that earned Leblond his first Cage Warriors belt.
Then came the moment everyone will be replaying for months. Daniel Konrad reminded everyone why you never feel safe in a grappler’s guard. In Konrad vs. Hardwick, the Polish submission ace launched into a flying triangle armbar that snapped shut in mid-air and forced the tap, giving him one of the submissions of the year in front of a stunned Newcastle crowd.
OH MY! Daniel Konrad letting everyone know that Jiu Jitsu is his game! What a sensational flying armbar 😮💨

Main card: finishes, point deductions and prospects rising
Every fight on the main card carried some kind of story. Rising featherweight George Staines finally got his long-awaited finish, drilling Ioan Harris with a clean knee and follow-up shots in Staines vs. Harris. Earlier, Josh Abraham delivered his own breakthrough moment, locking up a tight triangle choke in Abraham vs. Barna to earn his first submission in the famous yellow gloves.
The opener saw Adam Cullen go the distance on his return. The official scores in Cullen vs. Caio came in 29–27 across the board after a point deduction for an illegal kick, but Cullen still did enough to get his hand raised after three lively rounds.
Prelims: prospects and contenders make statements
The undercard did exactly what it’s supposed to do for a Cage Warriors 199 show: build the next wave. At light heavyweight, Norbert Pietrzak sent a message with a ruthless first-round TKO over local favourite Charles Joyner in Pietrzak vs. Joyner, nudging himself closer to title talk.
Teddy Adlington-Stringer had a near-perfect return performance, battering Leandro Camargo with ground-and-pound in Adlington-Stringer vs. Camargo. Fellow prospect Jack Foote kept his momentum, tapping Brennan Gait with a rear-naked choke in Foote vs. Gait and once again sending his travelling support into full party mode.
One of the biggest developmental wins of the night belonged to Joe Fields, who elbowed his way past Railson Paixão in Fields vs. Paixão. Ryan Campbell added another “submission of the year” candidate to the pile, rolling into a beautiful armbar in Campbell vs. Mohammad.
Veteran scrapper Charlie Boulton opened his 199 account with a hard-earned nod over Daniel Bainbridge in Boulton vs. Bainbridge, while Farshad Nazarnia choked out Geoff Pavey in Nazarnia vs. Pavey to quietly push himself deeper into the conversation at his weight.
