Jhanlo Mark Sangiao Targets Grappling Domination in Redemption Fight at ONE Fight Night 33

After two years of reflection and reinvention, Jhanlo Mark Sangiao is stepping back into the cage with a mission: to dominate Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg at ONE Fight Night 33. Set inside Bangkok’s iconic Lumpinee Stadium, the Filipino standout opens the July 11 event determined to reclaim his trajectory in ONE Championship.

Once hailed as the rising star of Team Lakay, Sangiao surged through his early pro bouts with six first-round finishes. But that undefeated streak came to a sudden halt when he met Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu in 2023. The Mongolian grappler exposed holes in Sangiao’s game and handed him a humbling submission defeat—one that Jhanlo now sees as the turning point of his career.

“I was too relaxed. I thought talent alone would carry me,” Sangiao admitted. “But that loss woke me up. It reminded me that you can’t just cruise through the fight game.”

Since then, “The Machine” has overhauled his training approach. Working alongside elite Filipino athletes like Jean Claude Saclag and fellow striker Carlo Bumina-ang, he’s fine-tuned his wrestling, grappling, and overall focus. He’s convinced that Zoltsetseg—known for his knockout power—won’t be able to keep the fight off the mat.

“His weakness is clear: he struggles on the ground,” Sangiao said. “And that’s exactly where I’m gonna take him.”

The 23-year-old's fight IQ now matches his athleticism. Blending wushu-based striking with newly sharpened takedowns, Sangiao promises a pace Zoltsetseg can’t match. His spinning kicks, aggressive ground-and-pound, and constant positional pressure could neutralize the Mongolian’s stand-up weapons.

Despite Zoltsetseg’s dangerous reputation, Sangiao says his teammates hit harder and push him further in camp than any opponent ever could. “I’m training with monsters,” he said. “That’s why I’m confident I can handle whatever Shinechagtga throws at me.”

As he marches toward ONE Fight Night 33, Jhanlo Mark Sangiao isn’t just seeking a win—he’s chasing redemption, relevance, and another shot at the division’s elite.
