PFL Africa Returns to Johannesburg with Full Fight Card Locked for August 9

The Professional Fighters League continues its African surge as PFL Africa: Johannesburg rolls into Carnival City on August 9. After Cape Town’s sold-out launch, the Johannesburg card promises another night of world-class action in front of a fired-up South African crowd.

This second stop in the inaugural season features the continent’s top featherweights and welterweights looking to punch their tickets to the PFL Africa Semifinals. The featherweight main event sees Nigeria’s Patrick Ocheme (6-1) battle Guinea’s gritty Mohamed Camara (5-2-1) in a style clash that could steal the show. Just before that, fans will witness an electric welterweight co-main event as Gambia’s Ibrahima Mané (14-5) faces Angola’s Shido Boris Esperanca (9-1) in a must-watch bout for bracket positioning.

The card is stacked with unbeaten contenders and dangerous finishers. Among them, British Boloyoang (3-1) throws down with Octave Ayinda (5-0) in a welterweight battle of rising prospects, while Sanon Sadeck (7-2) meets Yabna N’Tchalá (11-2-1) in what could be the sleeper fight of the night.

The featherweight matchups are equally loaded. Abdul Razac Sankara (6-3) steps in against the undefeated Shadrick Dju Yemba (4-0) in a high-stakes alternate bout, while Dwight Joseph (14-2, 1 NC) takes on Wilker Nsamo (7-0) in a banger between polished athletes.

More first-round fireworks are expected with Desmond Tamungang (5-0) vs. Kunle Lawal (2-1), Emilios Dassi (4-1) vs. Osvaldo Benedito (3-1), Wasi Adeshina (7-3) vs. Jean Jacques Lubaya (9-1), and Elbert Lukas Steyn (3-0) vs. Abderrahman Errachidy (4-1).

PFL Africa: Johannesburg kicks off at 6:00 PM SAST / 12:00 PM EST. Fans across Africa can tune in via SuperSport (English) and Canal+ (French), while U.S. viewers can catch the event on the PFL App.

With PFL investing heavily into the African MMA scene, this event marks another major milestone in their international push—and it’s only getting started.
